CENTRE LIVING UPRIGHT’S TEN YEARS OF FORMAL EXISTENCE
The Centre LIVING UPRIGHT was founded on 22 February, 2002. It developed from the Counseling centre for psycho-social support for persons with disabilities, that was initiated in Novi Sad in autumn 2000 by the Belgrade Office of the French NGO Handicap International as part of a network of such centres; the others being in Belgrade, Zaječar, Valjevo, Novi Pazar, and Leskovac.
AWARDS GRANTED TO CITIES AND MUNICIPALITIES
On 10 March, 2011, in the central hall of the Government Building of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, the Centre Living Upright, in cooperation with the APV Secretariat of Architecture, Urban Planning and Building, and its partners, organized a celebration on the occasion of the end of project "Network of Cities and Municipalities for All". TAwards were distributed to the representatives of ten Municipalities and Cities from Vojvodina, that successfully completed all their planned obligations related to creating an accessible environment for all their citizens. The public was also presented a new publication containing the basic elements of Strategic and Action Plans of Cities and Municipalities of Vojvodina in the area of accessibility. On this occasion, project results were briefly presented, highlighting the significance and need to endeavour in creating an accessible environment for all people.
CENTRE "LIVING UPRIGHT" INITIATES PEER COUNSELLING CENTRE FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH WITH DISABILITIES, THEIR PARENTS AND CARETAKERS
In March, 2010, the Centre "Living Upright" initiated a peer counselling centre for children and youth with disabilities, their parents and caretakers with the support from the parents who provided the initial funding for its activities.
Starting from 1 December the project has been funded by the Balkan Fund for Local Initiatives through the Social Transition Programme.
PROMOTION OF THE RESULTS OF THE PROJECT "NETWORK OF CITIES AND MUNICIPALITIES FOR ALL"
In cooperation with the AP Vojvodina Non-Profit Sector Development Fund, the Centre Living Upright organised a promotion of the results of the project ''Network of Cities and Municipalities for All '', on Tuesday, 7 December, 2010, in the premises of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina Government.
The gathering was inaugurated by Mr Dusan Jakovljev, Vice-president of the Government, and Mrs Ana Segedinski, in the name of the Vojvodina Non-Profit Sector Development Fund, as co-organiser of the event.
The public was addresed by the representative of the Centre Living Upright as project bearer, the representative of the donor - Provincial Secretariat for Architecture, Urban Planning and Building, and the representatives of the project partner organisations - the Provincial Institute for Social Protection and the Accessibility Audit Association.
CENTRE LIVING UPRIGHT PUBLISHES A NEW BOOK ON ACCESSIBILTY
In the framework of its Accessibility programme, in cooperation with the Canadian organisation Global Alliance on Accessible Technologies and Environments (GAATES) the Centre Living Upright supplemented and translated the publication International Best Practices in Universal Design: A Comparative Study.
The translation and publication of the book was financially supported by the OSCE Mission in Serbia and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION
On Wednesday, 27 10 2010th at 19.00 h is the opening of the exhibition which is organized in cooperation with the Centre “Living Upright " from Novi Sad, entitled "Support us because we support others ... ".
Centre “Living Upright” supports persons with disabilities and their families, and the exhibition is held on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the founding of the Centre.

TRAINING SESSION IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF VRBAS
On 16th March, 2010, a training session was held on the basic elements of accessibility as part of implementation of the project "Network of Cities and Municipalities for All". The training was attended by a total of 22 participants, representatives of local governance, Centre for Social Work, local communities, public enterprises, education institutions, nongovernmental organisations, and interested individuals form the Municipality of Vrbas.
AWARD NOMINATION
In January, 2010, the Centre Living Upright was nominated as one of the candidates for the annual accessibility award, provided by the Fundation Design for All from Barcelona.
The Fundation Design for All grants this award to local governments, companies and organisations that believe in Design for All and who contribute to its practical application by implementing various projects and activities.
NETWORK OF CITIES AND MUNICIPALITIES FOR ALL
In January 2010, the Centre Living Upright, along with its partners initiated the implementation of a new project titles "Network of Cities and Municipalities for All".
The main goal of this project is to improve the quality of life of people in the Cities and Municipalities of Vojvodina by increasing the accessibility of environments, products and services.
ROUND TABLE ON ACCESSIBILITY IN TOURISM
At the occasion of this year’s International Fair of Tourism in Novi Sad, the Centre Living Upright together with the Novi Sad Fair, and in partnership with the South Backa Administrative District and the Provincial Institute for Social Protection is organising a round table on the topic of accessibility in tourism.
The round table will be held on Friday, October 9th, 2009. starting at 11:00 at the ’Master’ Congress Centre, Hall # 4, Novi Sad Fair.

Cooperation with the Regional Chamber of Commerce Novi Sad
On Tuesday, 10 February, 2009, in the premises of the Regional Chamber of Commerce Novi Sad, the Centre Living Upright made a presentation on the principles of accessibility and the concept of design for all.
The presentation was held in the framework of the cooperation established between the Centre Living Upright and the Regional Chamber of Commerce Novi Sad. Its main purpose was to raise the awareness of the business sector representatives on the issue of creating an accessible environment, as well as to encourage the application of the principles of design for all in their everyday activities.
New publication: European Concept for Accessibility for Administrations
The Centre "Living Upright" has translated into Serbian the latest publication of the European Concept for Accessibility Network (EuCAN), entitled "European Concept for Accesibility for Administrations".
The translation into Serbian and its printing were made possible thanks to support from OSCE Mission in Serbia, Ministry of Labour and Social Policy of the Republic of Serbia, Secretariat for Architecture, Urabn Planning and Building of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, and the City of Novi Sad.

Presentation of the project and concept of accessibility
On Monday, 22 December, 2008, the second meeting of the South Backa District Council. It was attended by the representatives of the South Backa municipalities. The Centre Living Upright participated with a presentation of the project "Accessibility and Tourism".
10 workshops held
In cooperation with the Institute for Social Protection of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and the South Backa District, the Centre Living Upright held a total of 10 workshops for the representatives of 10 Soth Backa District municipalities. Thier topic was "Accessibility and Design for All".
These workshops were held as part of the project "Accessibility and Tourism". They took place in Bački Petrovac, Temerin, Bačka Palanka, Bečej, Beočin, Srbobran, Novi Sad, Titel, Zabalj and Sremski Karlovci.
Municipalities and Centre Living Upright - Cooperation established
Within the framework of implementation of the project "Accessibiity and Tourism" and in cooperation with the South Backa Administrative District and the Institute for Social Protection of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, work was initiated to establish cooperation with the representatives of the 12 municipalities of the South Backa District.
The initial meeting was held on 19 November, 2008, in the premises of the South Backa District in Novi Sad. In addition to establishing cooperation, the main goal of the meeting, which was attended by 20 representatives of 10 municipalities, was to introduce the project activities and to increase the level of information on the accessibility concept.
